The beautiful soundtrack from “Sword and Fairy 1” 2024 drama is now available for download! I love how they’ve taken music from the original “Legend of Sword and Fairy” game and included it in this adaptation. It’s super nostalgic for fans of the game.

Less than a week ago, I was posting up links to watch “Sword and Fairy” 又见逍遥 with English subtitles online, and here I am writing up a review!! Yes, I end up binge watching 40 episodes in under a week. I was just so excited to see what this remake had to offer, and I must say I am not disappointed!

Being a fan of the original DOS/Windows 95 version of “Pal” game, and also having loved the Chinese Paladin drama (2005), I was excited and nervous at the same time. What would this version have to offer? Can the cast really pull off the characters we’ve all come to love so much? How similar and different would they be? Are we getting yet another tragic ending?

Thankfully, I can say that it is a much more faithful adaptation to the original game. The characters, relationships and story is rather different to Chinese Paladin (2005) so I didn’t find myself comparing the two all that much. I was so absorbed in the version of the game I grew up with, that it felt like I could enjoy this series without constantly comparing the two dramas (and cast). What I also loved was the nostalgia and memories this show brought back. Fans of the original game would be in for a real treat because yesss we actually get OST from the game. All the visuals, character designs, settings, monsters, items.. everything is so closely depicted it just brought a smile to my face every time I noticed the connection. And as a bonus, it also has taken some inspiration from the first drama, fans will notice some easter eggs and references! ;)

Chinese Paladin (XianJian QiZia Zhuan) remake is finally out and available for viewing! The title for the remake is 又见逍遥 (Literally translated as ‘seeing Xiaoyao again’) with the English title officially “Sword and Fairy“. Originally it was slated to be called “Paladin Legend”.

Lucky for us international fans, the entire drama has been uploaded to Youtube with English subtitles. You can watch the all the episodes below:

This year’s Weibo King and Queen were awarded to no other than Hu Ge and Crystal Liu Yifei. After 18 years, the two finally reunited at the China Weibo Night Awards Ceremony in Shanghai on March 25th.

Liu Yifei gave a speech with a smile: “I just chatted with Hu Ge in the audience today. I haven’t seen you for a long time. I am very happy.”

Hu Ge announced his marriage to his beloved wife Huang Xining on the stage. He thanked the two most important women in his life, “In fact, today is a night full of stars. I’m not enough to accept this honour tonight, but if you want to compare who is the happiest person this year, I still have the confidence! I want to thank my wife, because being a mother is really hard, and I also want to thank my precious daughter, who made me realise unprecedented happiness.”

“Finally, I want to thank Liu Yifei. Why? Everyone knows that we were together as Zhao Ling’er and Li Xiaoyao in Chinese Paladin. A group of us young people once made a ten-year agreement. Zhao Linger’s wish back then was to hope that all people in the world could be happy. Perhaps because of this wish, Xiaoyao became the happiest person at this moment! I also hope that my good luck can bring you all, and everyone their own happiness.”

Aw, how touching!! I love that he brought up their characters from Chinese Paladin!

Since the reboot announcement of our beloved XianJian QiXia Zhuan “Chinese Paladin” (2005) TV drama titled “Paladin Legend”, we finally get a glimpse of the new production!

The cast has been confirmed with new promotional images and screenshots revealed, including a pretty epic teaser trailer! More details below:

Another sad news to share with everyone. After many years running ‘Xian Jian Fan Club‘ the only English forum dedicated to Chinese Paladin/XianJian QiXia Zhuan series, the forum has been closed down for good.

While the forum has been quite inactive for years, many fond memories were shared with the tight-knit community that was built. It was so exciting meeting other like-minded PAL fans, primarily the English speaking audience from all over the world and sharing our love for this classic RPG and/or television series. Thank you for the memories.

Behind the scenes, I struggled with a lot of technical issues running the phpBB forum over the years. Several years ago, the forum ran into spam bot issues. Everyday I would literally get 100s of new registrations with spammy fake accounts, who littered the entire forum with mass amounts of spam. The anti-spam functionality was frankly not working, and it was getting out of control. I had to restrict new members, and had asked visitors to manually send me an email to get their account activated. As you can imagine, this was a huge barrier to getting new members… though we did get a few during this time, it was not sustainable.

The forum was later “upgraded” but I also ran into issues there. I was hoping an upgrade would fix our current problems but it didn’t. It also brought upon new problems for me, and I was unable to really update the forum (without running into tons of errors). All of this frustration combined with moving servers a couple of times had lead me to run a fresh new install of the forum. It end up breaking completely, and I was not able to retrieve our old databases…. And so, I have decided to close it down. I do regret not saving all our popular posts, and resources like game link downloads and resources though. If there is enough interest in the future, maybe I can put together a new post on this website.

Anyway, I just want to say thank you to those who stuck around, who helped contribute to the community. It started back in 2006… that’s almost 15 years ago!

I am also considering closing down our Twitter and Facebook account.. but whatever happens, this website will still be around. So feel free to reach out! Drop a comment or simply say hi :)

Oh my goodness! Our beloved ‘Xianjian QiXia Zhuan‘ – Chinese Paladin 2005 television series has been confirmed for a reboot! Its English title is “Paladin Legend“. Filming is set to begin in Hengdian in Autumn of 2021 and will be produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures. Wow.. it’s been 18 years already…?! :’)

The new Chinese Paladin TV series titled “Paladin Legend” is expected to be 40 episodes long. The cast has yet to be announced. Who will play our beloved heroes Li Xiao Yao, Zhao Ling’er and Lin Yue Ru? Will it ever be able to surpass the classic we’ve all come to love? What is certain is…. they’ve got big shoes to fill!

Either way this is very exciting news and I can’t wait to see the final product!

There were many times when I considered taking this site down permanently since it hasn’t been updated in quite a number of years and we don’t get a lot of traffic either (the show is old, and it’s mostly for a niche English audience), but I always think back to all the hours and labour of love poured into creating this site, and for that alone I want it keep it up and running for as long as I could.

So what does this mean for you? We aren’t going anywhere..! Along with our sister site Undying Love, we will occupy this little space on the internet to reflect and look back on for years to come.
