(I think Xuan Yuan Sword series is mentioned another thread but posting so many stuff like this will be way OT, so I started a new thread)

These screenshots are from Xuan-Yuan Jian IIIE (the side story of Xuan-Yuan Jian III).

Like PAL, you also have a "kind" girl and a "stubborn" girl in this game, but only one will be alive in the ending (you can decide who will be alive by yourself, this will also effect who will appear in the last maze and the final boss fight).


The fighting looks like Final Fantasy series, but it's not anyways as when the menu appears the timer will stop, which means you don't need to make quick decisions like FF.


For someone you are not supposed to beat (Like Shi Zhang Lao in PAL1), if you managed to survive for a period, he'll say something like "Ouch! Please, let me kill you so we can move on to next scene!"

I still remember the happy time when I was playing it, this version was focus on love and for many people the love story even better than Xian Jian I.

awesome graphic, i'm a bit sucker for old school 2d sprite RPG games actually. it's a bit disappointing though that they made the fourth game in 3d though.

^ agreed and that's also one of the reasons why I didn't quite addicted into PAL3 (I think 3D game in first-person form can be cool, like Half-Life or Quake... but I don't quite like 3D RPG game).

3D RPGs are the trend of the 21th century... Like it or not, we can't stop it.

I don't like the bad graphics of PAL3, but PAL4 is acceptable.

as i remember, pal2 has the same engine as swd3/swd3e...
so it is reasonable to see that...

hmm i never really finished or technically started this game its on my computer but got too much work to do no time to play this game

I remember that there is this math question in the Xuan-Yuan Jian III game at the beginning that was so hard to solve at the time
